gawd. i know this is meant to be funny but...its so damn true

really, this got me thinking...where video games are headed...they could be epic...or they could be...bad. I mean, all this hype about Modern Warfare too..which is in the most overpopulated bloody genre of video games atm : FPS's, which...I don't even play. We don't need over 9000 shooters guys. Platformers besides Mario and Sonic would be nice (especially since sonic has been meh at best lately imo)Maybe some good RPG's that aren't made by square enix (now granted, square does try new things, like KH and TWEWY)or whoever makes the Persona series or Bamco or in the Pokemon series...yeah. I wish developers would stop playing it so...safe. Give us some decent innovation please. And the community...oh good lord...I don't think I have to elaborate on that one. You think it would grow up and get more mature over time but...no.


Sigh...but even though these companies are playing it safe, at least they're not selling out. NSMBWii is actually fun. FFXIII looks awesome, as well as Tales of Graces...Pokemon is still pokemon, and has an awesome competitive scene...so why do I feel so...stagnant? It just seems like its new on the surface, but still doesn't capture the awesome of games past. Even without nostalgia glasses. And maybe because online has too many 12 year olds, fanboys, and hackers. Freaking spiritomb with wonderguard. Oh and infinite blue shells in MKW. lovely >_> if you're going to hack at least do it within the confines of normal play.

Seeing this around me makes me want to design games and change this desert with scattered diamonds that is the gaming scene...

tl;dr version : We need more original yet awesome games besides that are beyond FPS's and the standard series that are out now.
